- Show them where the continent of Africa is and where the country of Ghuana is located.
- Show them examples of Kente Cloths.
- Show Kente PowerPoint.
III. How do you think the Kente Cloths are used? How are they made?
- They are worn by royalty only!
- Watch the YouTube video about how they are made.
- Workers use hands and feet at the same time!
IV. Instructions and Demonstration:
- Fold in half and in half again, hamburger style.
- In the first square, draw two shapes and five lines with pencil.
- In the second square, draw two more shapes and five lines that are very different, in contrast, to the first square.
- In the third square, repeat square one.
- In the fourth square, repeat square two.
- Go over all pencil lines with black water-based marker.
- Choose three-six colors of tempera paint to put onto your paint palette.
- Paint each entire square with at least three colors of tempera paint. Be sure to make squares one and three the same color scheme, and squares two and four the same color scheme.
